E-bus transports FEU Alabang students

STUDENTS, faculty members and other individuals within the Far Eastern University (FEU) Alabang campus can now ride an electric minibus, which is part of the university's vision to provide sustainable mobility for students for its community.

Through its partnership with Global Electric Transport (GET), FEU Alabang has been included in the Community Optimized Managed Electric Transport's (Comet) expanded Filinvest South route, which is facilitated by a zero-emission, fast-charging electric minibus that can accommodate up to 30 passengers. Equipped with a wheelchair ramp, the vehicle is also accessible for people with disabilities.

According to Remelita Avenido, executive director of FEU Alabang, the integration of sustainable mobility solutions into the campus infrastructure «enhances the commuting experience» while «contributing to broader environmental and social goals.»

The Comet bus operates from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Meanwhile, an FEU Alabang Express Service shuttles passengers to and from FEU Alabang with shorter stops during specific peak hours of the day from Monday to Saturday. Passengers can access the service through the Get-Pass application, which offers a cashless payment system.

FEU Alabang and GET will also provide charging stations tailored for Comet buses servicing the Filinvest area, as well as near the campus bus stop. The stations ensure that the students and passengers can easily access transportation services without worrying about the battery levels of their electric rides.

The Comet bus service is in line with FEU's commitment to supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4: Quality Education, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
