MANILA, Philippines — Reigning champion La Salle kept a stranglehold of second spot with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 win over FEU in the second-round elims of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
It was the fifth straight win for the Lady Spikers (7-1), whose lone loss came against unbeaten leader Santo Tomas in the first round, with reigning MVP Angel Canino (15) and Best Middle Blocker Thea Gagate (10) leading the barrage.
The Lady Tamaraws, a force to reckon with this season, dropped to an even 4-4 slate.
Earlier, University of the East exacted payback on Adamson, 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, to snap a six-game slump.
