Negros Oriental special poll: Filing of COCs extended

MANILA, Philippines — The deadline for filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the special election to fill the vacancy arising from the expulsion of Arnolfo Teves Jr. as Negros Oriental third district representative has been extended.

In a resolution, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the filing of COCs, which started on Monday, is until Nov. 11. The previous deadline was Nov. 8.

The Comelec said the extension aims to give eligible candidates “ample time” to file their COC.

The poll body did not receive any COC on Monday.

The Comelec set the election period from Nov. 9 to Dec. 25. The campaign period is from Nov. 9 to Dec. 7.

The special election is set on Dec. 9.
