PAGASA: LPA east of Luzon to enter PAR
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 29) — The state weather bureau said a low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday or Saturday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the LPA was last located 1,715 kilometers east of central Luzon.
«We are still monitoring the LPA outside PAR and it may enter, probably, by today or tomorrow,» PAGASA weather forecaster Rhea Torres told CNN Philippines' New Day.
«We are still not ruling out the (LPA) developing into a tropical cyclone within the next few days,» she added.
While the LPA has no direct effect on the country, the bureau said its trough or extension may bring rains over the Visayas and parts of Palawan.
PAGASA also warned of isolated and localized thunderstorms and rain showers in parts of Metro Manila due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.
However, the agency said clear and sunny skies may still be possible over the capital region in the earlier half of the day.
