Pasig tankers shine in Batang Pinoy
MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City tankers made waves with a boatload of golds led by the three-medal haul of Arvin Naeem Taguinota in Day 2 of the Batang Pinoy at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Stadium inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
Taguinota, who was hailed as the Best Swimmer in a recent Dubai tilt, raked in three golds as the Pasigueños won a total of five mints in the swimming competition also marked by triumphs by tankers from Parañaque, Mandaluyong and Mabalacat City.
The 12-year-old Taguinota ruled the boys’ 12-under 200-meter individual medley in 2:25.20 before reigning supreme in the 50-meter backstroke in 31.15 seconds.
Later, he anchored Pasig’s triumph in the boys’ 12-under 200-meter relay with Charles Ezekiel Canlas, Marcelino Picardal and Jefferson Sabularse, clocking 2:09.20 to best their counterparts from Pangasinan and Cavite.
Canlas, earlier, won the boys’ 12-under 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:57.60 as Admiel Percy Sajise copped the title in the boys’ 13-15 100-meter freestyle in 55.91 seconds to make it a five-medal harvest for Pasig.
