Rain in Mindanao; warm, humid in rest of PH — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines: A trough of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is affecting Mindanao while two other weather systems — high pressure area (HPA) and easterlies – are bringing warm, humid weather in most parts of the country.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that while the extension of the LPA would bring scattered rains in some parts of Mindanao, this would not develop into a tropical cyclone.

«There is also a very slim chance of this weather disturbance entering PAR in the coming days,» the Pagasa forecaster said.

Meanwhile, the state-run weather agency said the ridge of HPA extended over the eastern section of Northern Luzon.

The easterlies, on one hand, is affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country where isolated downpours and thunderstorms would be likely within the next 24 hours especially during late afternoon or at night, it added.

Pagasa reiterated its reminder to the public to limit the time spent outdoors especially during late morning up to mid-afternoon and drink plenty of water to avoid heat cramps and heat exhaustions and, worse, heat stroke due to over exposure to the sun.
