WATCH: Cary Santiago presents new TernoCon 2024 collection

MANILA, Philippines — It was a night of culture and couture at “TernoCon 2024” in Museo del Galeón in SM Mall of Asia recently.

“TernoCon 2024: Kasarinlan, Kultura, Kasuotan” last June 10 was a fashionable prelude to the 126th Philippine Independence Day. This project is part of the #LoveLocal campaign of Bench and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The incomparable Cary Santiago of Cebu City presented a collection entitled “Ikonograpiya” — a celebration of popular Philippine iconography such as the jeepney, sampaguita, anahaw leaf, Philippine Eagle, carabao, and mangoes rendered in the primary colors of the Philippine Flag.

Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and Miss Universe 2023 Top 10 Michelle Marquez Dee served as Santiago’s finale model.

Some ensembles from Santiago’s collection were on display in an exhibit in SM Mall of Asia Main Mall Atrium until June 23.

The event and exhibit were presented by Bench, SM Supermalls, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

On his socials, Santiago shared.: “I am so happy and proud to be part of TernoCon 2024: Kasarinlan. Kultura. Kasauotan. The event was brought to you by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Bench and  the SM Group. Thank you so much Ben Chan for always supporting our arts and culture. To Noel Manapat and Gino Gonzales with the assistance of Maggie, Karen of Bench and to the entire staff and crew, thank you for making all this happen. It was my pleasure to work with all of you. To the SM Group for letting us use the massive venue, it was one for the books.

“I am happy to have shared the stage with two talented peers in my field — Jojie Lloren whose impeccable tailoring and sophisticated taste is one of those I have always admired and to Jaggy Glarino, so happy for you to be part of this, showcasing beautiful Mindanao artistry, I can’t imagine those prints are made from small beads being put up together.

“To all the makeup artists and hairstylists led by Eric Maningat, to the seamstresses of John Herrera who helped me with some minor alterations, tucking and sewing and to all my mesdames and friends who flew all the way from Cebu, thank for all the support and love.

“To my muses that
