Lotto 6/55 pot to hit P553 million

MANILA, Philippines — The jackpot of the Grand Lotto 6/55 is estimated to soar to a whopping P553 million by the next draw on Wednesday night, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said yesterday.

The Grand Lotto 6/55 draw last Saturday yielded a winning combination 25-21-07-49-32-22. No bettor won the jackpot of P542,209,191.20.

However, there were 27 who correctly guessed five of the six digit winning combination. The winners can each claim a P100,000 prize. The Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law imposes a 20 percent tax on all lotto winnings above P10,000.

The PCSO increased the jackpot of the Ultra Lotto 6/58 and the Grand Lotto 6/55 last Friday under their “Handog Pakabog” Christmas lotto promotion campaign wherein they raised to a minimum guaranteed P500 million the jackpot prizes for the Ultra Lotto and Grand Lotto games.

The “Handog Pakabog” campaign was announced on Dec. 15 when the PCSO also announced the launch of its web-based betting system or “e-lotto” that would allow lotto players to place bets on their mobile phones.

The e-lotto is expected to jack up PCSO’s lotto revenues as well as its lotto jackpot amounts.

Prices for the tickets, even with the Handog Pakabog! promo will remain at P20 each.

The Grand Lotto is drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The PCSO has suspended the sale of tickets and the conduct of draws today, being Christmas Day, as well as next Monday, New Year’s Day. Tickets will be sold on Dec. 26 to Dec. 30 and on Jan. 2, 2024 onwards.
