Cabangahan sweeps volleyball titles in 12th Alegado Cup | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cabangahan spikers clinched back-to-back championships in both men’s and women’s volleyball of the 12th Alegado Cup sports festival in Consolacion, Cebu.

Led by season MVP James Siacor and Finals MVP Janlou Panangin, Team Cabangahan down their closest rivals from Casili to keep their men’s crown. Tayud wound up third.

Aside from Siacor and Panangin, the other individual awardees were Kenth Estole (best libero), Glomierey Niez (best setter), Shao Patigayon (best opposite spiker), Jake Miñoza (best outside hitter), and Juan Miguel Castillon (best middle blocker).

In the women’s category, Cabangahan retained their throne after edging past Nangka. Sacsac settled for third place.

Season MVP Tracy Cortes and Finals MVP Trixie Kristine Cortes shined the brightest for Cabangahan volleybelles.

The other outstandings performers were Anne Margaret Padayogdog (best libero), Hezra Congson (best setter), Josephine Harner (best opposite spiker), Danna Chloe Panangin (best outside hitter), and Clavel Dejito (best middle blocker).

The tournament was under the supervision of event coordinator Roel Miñoza assisted by Jason Panangin and Jessie Yungco.
