Empleyado ng BIR, huli sa pangingikil sa trader | Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Inaresto ng mga pulis kasama si Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui ang isang tauhan ng ahensya na sinasabing nangingikil sa isang negosyante na nag-aasikaso ng dokumento sa BIR.

“Pinangako ko ang integrity and professio­nalism of the institution and employees. Kaya hindi natin palalagpasin ang mga ganitong gawain. Walang lugar sa Bagong BIR ang mga ganitong emple­yado”, sabi ni Commissioner Lumagui.

Bagamat hindi pinangalanan ni Lu­magui ang tauhan, ito anya ay sinampahan na ng kasong kriminal kabilang ang robbery (extortion), grave coercion at  usurpation of official function/authority, paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act at Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Sinasabing ang BIR employee ay makailang beses nang humihingi ng pera sa isang establisimyento na nagbebenta ng kid’s bikes at wala itong official function sa BIR taxpayer’s department .

“All BIR officials conducting enforcement activities must be armed with the proper authority either a Letter of Authority or Mission Order. Taxpayers can always ask and verify the authority by which a BIR employee is visiting their office or business. You can report any individual, whether a BIR employee or a stranger, if he/she cannot show any official document that warrants his/her presence in your business establishment”, dagdag pa ni Lumagui.
